A master class can be many things: It can be a source of inspiration, a networking opportunity, the key to a new technical revelation, or simply an awesome time with an amazing dance celebrity. Manhattan Movement and Arts Center is offering a master class with the singular New York City Ballet star Wendy Whelan next Monday from 7:30 to 9 pm. She will be teaching an Intermediate/Advanced level class. The fee is $20 (or $17 professional rate). Register here.

Sundays in Indiana just got a whole lot more interesting. Ballet greats will be flocking to the state over the next few months to participate in Indianapolis City Ballet’s Master Class series. SAB’s Darci Kistler, ABT’s Irina Dvorovenko and Maxim Beloserkovsky, JKO’s Franco De Vita, NYCB’s Wendy Whelan and Daniel Ulbricht, John Cranko School director Tadeusz Matacz—these are some legit “masters” offering technique class. Enrollment is limited to 30 intermediate to advanced dancers per class, which includes 90 minutes of ballet technique followed by a Q&A. Students who attended the series in the past have since gone on to train at the John Cranko School, SAB, Houston Ballet and other top programs. Classes cost $30, and fill up quickly. Register at indianapoliscityballet.org.
