Starz Is Auditioning Dancers for Its New Ballet Drama

November 28, 2001

Back in January
, Starz announced that they were working on a scripted drama that would “explore the dysfunctional underbelly of the ballet world.” Think Black Swan as a television series.

It looks like Starz is going to avoid the body double controversy that plagued Black Swan, however: They want serious ballet dancers to play the show’s leads. And they’re looking for them right now.

Auditions for “company-level dancers” will be held in Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Chicago and Boston over the course of the next month. Specific locations and other details have yet to be announced, but you can click here to fill out an audition form and read character descriptions. (They’re looking for a Polina Semionova type to play the series lead, for example.)
