Take Virtual Class From Your Kitchen Counter With These Pros

One of the hardest parts of hunkering down to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is giving up our daily routines. And for dancers, that means class. Last week we shared a number of online teaching platforms (including Miami City Ballet principal soloist Lauren Fadely's new virtual ballet school), but now there are even more options. Over the weekend a handful of pros stepped forward to share that they'll be giving virtual class via Instagram or Facebook Live. So stake a claim to your kitchen counter, and start organizing your schedule for the week.

Tamara Rojo

English National Ballet artistic director and lead principal dancer, Tamara Rojo, is teaching class via ENB's YouTube and Facebook pages. You can watch today's class here, or tune in tomorrow!

Tiler Peck

We're excited to share that New York City Ballet star Tiler Peck will continue with another week of daily class. And, in case you truly can't get enough ballet in your life, she's added Saturday. Don't forget to use the hashtag #turnitoutwithtiler.

NYC Community Ballet

NYC Community Ballet opened up its advanced ballet classes, taught by a rotating list of pros, to the public via Zoom. This week's schedule includes Bethany Mitchell, Michelle Thompson Ulerich and Tyler Schnese. You can check out the full month's listing here.

LINES Dance Center

San Francisco's LINES Dance Center, the school affiliated with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, is now offering discounted classes via Zoom.

Ashley Bouder

Ashley Bouder gave us an extra treat this week: live-streamed classes every day. Plus, the NYCB principal is saving the classes to her YouTube channel, so you can come back to them later.

Dancewear Royale

Leotard brand Dancewear Royale is hosting a series of teachers on its Instagram account. And better yet, they're posting the classes to IGTV, so you can check them out anytime. The classes range from ballet to pilates to core workout.

Patricia Zhou

Los Angeles–based dancer Patricia Zhou taught her first class via Instagram Live today, and just announced that she'll be continuing daily for the foreseeable future. You can catch up on last week's classes on IGTV.

Mary Carpenter

Bloch EU

The Cindies (aka James Whiteside and Isabella Boylston)

Everyone's favorite ballet duo taught joint class again today. While we don't know what next week will bring, we're thrilled to see that American Ballet Theatre principals James Whiteside and Isabella Boylston are encouraging students to donate to the Dancers' Emergency Fund, set up to create a safety net for ABT artists in need of financial assistance.

In the meantime, you can fill your weekend with a Jane Fonda-esque 80s style workout let by Whiteside, now available on IGTV.
