Dwyane Wade, ballerina? "We feel at times on the court that we're like graceful ballerinas in the air," admits the Miami Heat superstar in a just-released video of a photo shoot with Miami City Ballet. Both Wade and his teammate LeBron James posed with MCB principals Patricia and Jeanette Delgado for a special marketing campaign.
You might not have heard, but today's a holiday: It's national pancake day! To celebrate, we're sharing Miami City Ballet principal Tricia Albertson's recipe for whole wheat blueberry oatmeal pancakes. “I love this recipe because it sustains me through morning class and rehearsals,” she says. “I get high-density carbohydrates, protein, omega-3s, antioxidants—and a little bit of sugar that makes it all taste great.”

Successful ballet dancers all share one trait: a relentless determination to improve. To close out 2012, Pointe reached out to dancers we covered this past year to find out their resolutions for the next one.
Miami City Ballet premiered Viscera, choreographed by Royal Ballet dancer Liam Scarlett, last weekend. It was Scarlett's first work for an American company. MCB principal Patricia Delgado has been documenting the experience for Pointe. (Read her first entries here and here.)

For most dancers, when it comes to cooking, they want three things: something easy, something healthy, something tasty. Miami City Ballet principal Jennifer Kronenberg has just the thing: asian garlic salmon. It's her go-to recipe for weekday dinners. “My husband, MCB principal Carlos Guerra, and I love this recipe—it's super tasty,” says Kronenberg. “And it’s perfect for preparing after a long rehearsal day.”
The mood is a little tense as Alexei Ratmansky peeks in the window during our warm-up barre. The dancers exchange smiles, as if to agree silently to our excitement. After class, we are all introduced to Mr. Ratmansky, and settle in for a talk. He greets us warmly, and at once all our nerves seem to disappear.
