40 days to be a ballerina
MTV’s reality show Made featured a girl learning ballet on Saturday. The show always follows teens as they attempt remarkable transformations, and this episode was no different. With no background in dance, Sarah had about 40 days to learn the basics in time to try out for a part as a mouse in The Nutcracker. Her coach, Robert Sher-Machherndl (director of Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet) helped her every step of the way—from picking out the perfect leotard to learning how to plié. If anything, this episode showed just how difficult it is to become a skilled, technical dancer. Ballet takes a lot of time and effort, but meeting the challenges and seeing your improvements make it worthwhile. Made will rerun tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. for those who missed it!
