The Atlantic City Ballet's International Trainee and Apprentice Program (ITAP) is the perfect program for dancers who seek a professional career in dance. This 1-2  year tuition based program provides the experience necessary to ease the transition from student to professional dancer, all while offering personal attention in a small, nurturing environment.

Limited to only 20 students, ITAP is the training ground for future AC Ballet company members. For those students also interested in continuing their academic education, ITAP offers one on one academic mentoring and the ability to take classes either online or at Richard Stockton College which is minutes away. Trainees will also have the opportunity to perform in AC Ballet's many outreach programs and will be part of Atlantic City Ballet's Corps de ballet.

2015/16 ITAP Auditions

Students are accepted into ACB ITAP by audition only. Interested dancers  should mail their audition materials. The audition packet should include: resume, head shot and one dance shot. One video not longer then 10 minutes. The video should contain the following:

First combination - short adagio with a develop a la seconde, and arabesque in it.

Second combination - pirouettes and one open turn.

Third combination -  small beats and jumps

Fourth combination - big jumps.

Any extra time on the video may contain something of the dancers choosing. Please include a $30 audition fee. Checks may be made payable to Atlantic City Ballet

MCB is the Pacific Northwest's new Contemporary Ballet Company created by its artistic director, Gina Candland. The company is set to collaborate with world-renowned choreographers to create an innovative repertoire that will be performed throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Dancers interested in an apprentice or company position are strongly encouraged to attend Moxie Contemporary Ballet's Summer Intensive. MCB artistic director and creative staff welcome the opportunity to get to know and realize each dancers full potential.  

Moxie Dance Company Summer Intensive Auditions:

Train like a professional this summer with the Pacific Northwest's new premiere contemporary ballet company. Learn from an inspiring world renowned faculty, including Drew Jacoby and Paloma Herrera, led by artistic director Gina Candland.

Session One: June 15-July 11
Geared towards dancers seeking a classical ballet focus in partnering and men's class complimented with both classical and contemporary ballet and partnering, modern, Pilates, and conditioning.

Session Two: July 13-August 8
Geared towards dancers seeking a contemporary ballet focus in partnering and men's class complimented with contemporary, modern, and body conditioning.

Both sessions are open to all age groups.
Intermediate Students: 12-15 years
Advanced Pre-Professional: 16-20 years
Professional Dancers: 21-30 years

*Must meet age requirement by June 1, 2015.
*Age is used as a general placement guideline. Each student will be individually evaluated and placed in the level that best matches their maturity and technical level.

 

Moxie Contemporary Ballet's Summer Intensive program is a rigorous intensive that inspires, nurtures and refines dancers both technically and artistically.  Our renowned and knowledgeable faculty gives individualized guidance to help each dancer learn how to work with their own bodies. While developing and refining a pure technical foundation, dancers are challenged through collaboration to explore their own technical and artistic potential.

Our goal is to give dancers the knowledge and tools to care for their bodies, problem solve, and become the best version of themselves.  With classical ballet as our foundation, dancers are inspired through process based movement.  Methods for injury prevention and longevity are reinforced through a kinesthetic understanding of technique and movement. Our goal is to train independent thinking, artistically innovative, and technical sound dancers capable of effortlessly transitioning into the professional world of dance.

Dancers benefit from a small student-to-teacher ratio and train a minimum of 40 hours per week. And dancers will have the opportunity to take master classes in conditioning and injury prevention with Artistic Director, Gina Candland. Faculty collaborates with the dancers to create innovative new works performed at the end of each session on one of Portland's 5 Theatre stages.

Expert Panel Q&A Discussions
Each week on Saturday afternoons, dancers will have the rare opportunity to attend our Expert Panel Q&A Discussions. Faculty and guest faculty will lead the the conversation on a variety of topics and dancers will be able to openly ask questions in regards to auditioning, taking class, headshots, pointe shoes and more.

How to become an intelligent class taker.
Are auditions the only way to get a job or position in a company?
Do's and don'ts of headshots and resumes.
Using social media to promote yourself as a dancer.
How body conditioning prevents injuries.
Promoting a healthy body image of yourself.

Dance's Start Up VI Audition - Professional Training Program for Dancers
Artistic Director Brigel Gjoka
Dance’s Start Up is a professional training project. The entire course lasts 8 months (960 hours of work), from October 2015 until May 2016. It is an intensive program, during which every participant will deal with a technical and artistic/creative training path by means of daily lessons of classical ballet and contemporary dance technique, choreographic composition and improvisation technique. Moreover, every month, there will be some workshops and seminars with international artists such as Eduardo Torroja (Ultima Vez Company), Blenard Azizaj (Akram Khan Company), Brigel Gjoka (The Forsythe Company), Mikel Aristegui Tello, Teri Weikel (Feldenkrais® teacher) and Maria Martinez with Experiential Anatomy method BCM®.

Participants will be involved in a new Dance and Technology Project, in which they experience the innovative software Touch Designer so as to arrange interactive performances. Moreover, they will have the possibility to participate in a career planning workshop based on group and individual meetings with experts. They will learn how write a successful CV  and how to plan their career. There will be also various workshops with experts in light design, musical composition and improvisation, atelier of theater – dance and disability, dance-video interaction. The program also includes projects organized by Leggere Strutture, such as artistic residencies and productions. Dancers will be informed monthly about work opportunities and auditions. Dance’s Start Up's final aim is to train dancers and to introduce them the path to the professional stage.

Ballet 5:8 is seeking to offer trainee positions to qualified male and female applicants. Applications are being accepted until positions are filled.

The Ballet 5:8 Trainee Program is a dynamic 2-year training program that allows a select group of dancers to put the finishing touches on their training alongside the Ballet 5:8 professional company. Students accepted spend mornings in technique class and rehearsals alongside the Ballet 5:8 professional company and attend a range of supplementary classes in the afternoons five days per week, August - May. Open by audition only to dancers ages 18-24 with a solid background in classical ballet, the Trainee Program prepares promising students for careers with Ballet 5:8 and other professional dance companies. In the three short years of the program, our graduates have already been accepted into the Kirov Academy year-round program, Joffrey Ballet Trainee program and the Ballet 5:8 Company.

Program Content
Trainee Program students attend ballet technique and pointe daily based on Ballet 5:8's unique style grounded in classical Vaganova technique but seasoned with the powerful and athletic demands of today's professional dance world. Students then spend their afternoons in rehearsals along with the professional company and a rotation of classes including variations, repertoire, jazz, modern, improv, PiYo, weights training, stretching, acting and mime, port de bras, and pas de deux. Additional academic classes include dance history, music theory, anatomy, injury prevention and Bible study.

Performance
Ballet 5:8 Trainees perform regularly in outreach settings and with Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts. Trainees also have the opportunity to be cast in performance opportunities alongside the Ballet 5:8 Professional Company, including touring opportunities. Trainees have the opportunity to perform new works frequently, and also work with a variety of choreographers throughout the year.
